Macunaima

Macunaima was such a weird movie, but it was fun to watch. It was great seeing our first color film and it definitely enhanced the story. I didn't really know what to expect because I was waiting to read the chapter in the book after I had seen the film. The beginning section really set up the fact that this was not a typical movie. It was so over the top, which made the subtext stand out more. I could tell that the film was making comments on Brazil, but I don't really know too much about the society so I didn't understand everything. I recognized some of the fables in the movie and it was fun to see how they interpreted and incorporated all of them into one story.
